In the 1930s, amidst a time of peace and plenty, Camilingheld its own ‘petit carnivals’ in conjunction with the town fiesta that was held annually from May 6, 7, and 8. The first recorded provincial fair of Tarlacwas held in 1927, same year as the town fair of Concepcion. Camilingfollowed suit in 1930, with a mini-fair that adapted certain successful elements of the grand national carnival in Manila.
Two pictures from that event show the lavishness of the petit fair, aping successfully the costumed pageantry of the Manila Carnival. Reigning queen over the festicities was Queen Pura I,a namesake of the very first Carnival royale of Manila (Pura Villanueva).

General Gregorio del Pilar
Gregorio del Pilar y Sempio (November 14, 1875—December 2, 1899) was one of the youngest generals in the Philippine Revolutionary Forces during the Philippine Revolution and the Philippine-American War. He is most known for his role and death at the Battle of Tirad Pass. Because of his youth, he was called the "Boy General."
