Howard Aldridge Coffin (June 11, 1877 – February 28, 1956) was a politician from the U.S. state of Michigan. Alongside Harold F. Youngblood, he remains the last Republican to represent any part of Detroit in congress, as of 2024.[1] Both men were elected in the Republican wave year of 1946, only to lose re-election two years later in 1948.
Biography
[edit]Coffin was born in Middleborough, Massachusetts and attended the Vermont Academy at Saxtons River. He graduated from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, in 1901 and was a teacher in the Providence Friends School that same year.

Dr. Harold G. Coffin, of Ranger, Georgia, passed to his rest at Gordon Hospital on April 25, 2015 at the age of 89.
Born to missionary parents in Nanning, China, Harold dedicated his life to the study of paleontology. A devout believer in a literal 6-day creation, his research took him around the world as he searched for evidence that showed that science and the Bible record of a worldwide flood is reflected in the geological makeup of the world as we see it today. He authored or co-authored six books and multiple scientific articles that reached all age groups.
He leaves behind a strong legacy and a family that loved him dearly that includes his wife of nearly 68 years, Emma Coffin of Ranger, GA; children, Gordon and Glenda Hayward of Ranger, GA, and Michael and Kris Stevenson of Brentwood, British Columbia, Canada; Grandchildren, Jon and Shannon Gabbard of Louisville, KY, Michaela Stevenson of Seattle, WA, Nicolas Hayward of Lacombe, Alberta, Canada, Callen Stevenson of Brentwood, BC; and one great-grandchild, Tyler Gabbard of Louisville, KY.
Graveside funeral services for Dr. Harold G. Coffin will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 1, 2015 from Chandler Cemetery, with Gary Rustad and Jonathan Montes officiating. Music will be arranged by Nancy Sharp. Pallbearers serving wi
